In 1992, The Language Center started looking for a way to get around the problem of language courses taught at the time which were mainly based on classes held once or twice a week.
Referring to the principles of American psychologist Carl Rogers (1902-1987), founder of the humanistic “human-centered approach”, The Language Center developed its own teaching methodology introducing the concept of Full Immersion for the first time in Italy. The courses are held on a weekly or weekend basis, for individuals and small groups, in beautiful hospitality structures throughout Umbria such as historic residences, villas, holiday farms, and hotels located in buildings once belonging to nobility.

There is a precise logic to our teaching philosophy which can be described as “peripatetic”, a transliteration of the ancient Greek word περιπατητικός peripatêtikos, which means "of walking" or "given to walking about", as was done during the age of Plato, when student and teacher strolled about together, immersed in lush, green surroundings. It is a sort of “living alongside” one another, sharing social aspects of daily life in a foreign language, accompanied, naturally, by moments dedicated to actual teaching, and learning becomes a daily pleasure.
Thus, The Language Center became the first school in Italy without classrooms or school bells but instead with a new way of learning: walks in the countryside along with your own native-speaking teacher who gently yet skillfully leads you through the mysteries of the language, watching films in original language, playing games together, visiting nearby art towns, conversing about topics proposed by you and, lastly, sharing the pleasure of genuine cuisine beneath the shade of a flowering pergola or in Medieval frescoed dining rooms, always together with your teacher.
